Chester Northgate
Chester Northgate is a new mixed-use scheme in the heart of Chester comprising offices, a new indoor market, cinema, parking, bars and restaurants which will transform the city's historic core. The open streets and plazas will integrate seamlessly with green walls and the natural timber-framed buildings around the city centre to provide a welcoming and healthy environment for visitors and residents alike.
Opened in 2022, the development will create a new public square for the city linking a new Market Square with the old Town Hall and the new cultural centre at the Storyhouse. As the development’s focal point, the Market Square will provide an attractive family friendly public realm for residents and visitors to enjoy outside dining and a range of events within a pedestrianised environment. The new six screen cinema and a reinvigorated indoor market will face onto the square alongside bars and restaurants.
The old Library building on the Town Hall Square will be renovated to showcase its historic façade providing a stunning arched gateway to the development. The building will be transformed into a new arcade housing a range of food and beverage units as well as new co-working office accommodation with scenic views over the Market Square.
A key part of the development is the new 800 space multi storey car park with 40 electric vehicle charging bays, with futureproof capabilities to double demand. The car park will include a living green wall technology and provide a ‘green lung’ in the heart of the city continuing the development’s environmental theme.
