London Power Tunnels 2
This is the second phase of an ambitious project to rewire London which will futureproof the capital’s electricity supplies and will see 32.5km of deep underground tunnels constructed to carry new high voltage electricity cables.
The 4m diameter tunnels will stretch from Wimbledon in south-west London and Crayford in south-east London and this new infrastructure will increase capacity to meet future demand whilst also reducing disruption during maintenance.
The project is due to complete and be fully operational by 2027.
