Ramsden Building
The Ramsden Building, a Grade II Listed landmark at the University of Huddersfield, is undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment to restore and modernise this historic structure. Originally opened in 1883 as the University’s first purpose-built educational facility, the building is being transformed to meet contemporary academic needs while honouring its rich heritage.
The project includes a full-scale internal renovation, incorporating extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades to enhance functionality and sustainability. Once completed, the revitalised space will accommodate key University stakeholder groups, including the International Study Centre (ISC), International Office (IO) and the Postgraduate Research Group (PGR).
Given its location within a live campus environment, the project requires careful coordination to ensure minimal disruption. The site’s proximity to public roads, adjacent buildings and essential campus services adds to the complexity, making this a meticulously planned and executed transformation.
