Challenge
Breast cancer services were previously delivered across multiple sites, creating a fragmented experience for patients and operational inefficiencies for staff. There was a clear need to bring diagnostic imaging, consultation, treatment planning and support services into a single, accessible location. The challenge lay in delivering a high-quality, patient-focused facility within the constraints of a busy hospital estate, while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing care services.
Solution
G&T provided Project Management services, overseeing the delivery of the new Unified Breast Unit from early planning through to completion. We coordinated the work of the clinical team, design consultants and contractors to ensure that clinical requirements and patient needs were at the heart of every decision. G&T managed key programme risks, maintained focus on quality and cost, and supported the delivery of a facility that combines technical performance with a welcoming, therapeutic environment.
Outcome
The completed Unified Breast Unit now provides a calm, efficient and fully integrated environment for patients undergoing breast cancer investigations and treatment. With improved patient flow, co-located services, and purpose-designed clinical spaces, the new facility enhances both patient experience and operational effectiveness. With G&T’s oversight, the project was completed efficiently and cost-effectively, creating a modern facility that supports smoother clinical operations and improved outcomes.
