G&T Helps Restore Primary School Prayer Garden

Last week G&T employees helped to restore a neglected prayer garden at St Joseph’s Primary School in Hunslet, Leeds.

As part of our ongoing social impact programme a team of six volunteers from the G&T Leeds office went down to a local school, to help cut back and tidy up the prayer garden that had become so overgrown it was no longer accessible. The team then helped the Year 3 & 4 students replant the flower beds, creating a vibrant and welcoming outdoor learning space.

Many of the children who took part in the day don’t have regular access to outdoor space at home, so this gave them the opportunity to learn first-hand about different gardening techniques and how to plant and look after a variety of flowers.

"It was brilliant to spend some time with the children of St Joseph’s. They are a credit to their teachers and worked together to bring the gardens back to life."

G&T Partner, Simon Worden, took part in the event and commented:

“We are extremely proud to be able to help St Joseph’s School and clean up an area where the kids can play and learn at the same time in order to look after the plants and bushes. It was brilliant to spend some time with the children of St Joseph’s. They are a credit to their teachers and worked together to bring the gardens back to life.”

Parents, teachers and pupils were all thrilled with the results of the day, following the hard work and effort put into creating a garden that everyone can enjoy.

"The children had a wonderful time meeting everyone and helping to give our garden a new lease of life."

“Gardiner & Theobald kindly volunteered to clear out our overgrown prayer garden and helped the children plant the flowers they provided. The children had a wonderful time meeting everyone and helping to give our garden a new lease of life. They had so much fun. We are looking forward to finally being able to use our prayer garden again. Thank you!"
