Topping out and breaking ground at Wellington Place, Leeds

Celebrations took place at MEPC’s Wellington Place development last month with milestones reached on two buildings within the masterplan.

Wellington Place is a new commercial district in Leeds City Centre which, when complete, will deliver circa 1.5 million sq ft of premium commercial, retail, leisure and residential accommodation.

Celebrations were held as building Nos 7/8 ‘topped out’ with a steel signing ceremony. The seven-storey building will be home to around 6,000 civil servants working for HMRC and NHS Digital when complete. It will offer circa 375,000 sq ft of office space and is the largest commercial building within the masterplan.

Within the same week, Building 4 started on site, launched with a ground breaking celebration. It is the latest building to be delivered and completes the east end of Wellington Place. It will offer 156,000 sq ft of high quality Grade A office and retail space with rooftop terraces and views over Tower Square.

“We have been working on the Wellington Place development with MEPC for a number of years. It is a fantastic project and we are delighted to be part of the team."

Matthew Mills, G&T Partner

G&T has been advising on the scheme since 2008 and is providing Employer's Agent and Cost Management services on Buildings 3, 4 and 7/8. We provided the same roles for the fit-out of Building 5 for the Ministry of Justice, who moved into their new office in the summer.
