The Duke of Cambridge visited The Royal Marsden in Sutton last month, where he laid the Foundation Stone at the opening ceremony of the new Oak Cancer Centre.
Prince William spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony meeting patients and employees, launching a new public appeal to raise money for the final stage of the scheme. The centre has so far raised almost £62m of the £70m needed.
The cancer centre is due to open in 2022 and will provide a hub for the rapid diagnosis of cancer, increased operational capacity for outpatients and ambulatory care. The centre will also provide a facility for over 400 researchers to work alongside patients.
Originally opened in 1851, The Royal Marsden was the world’s first dedicated cancer hospital focused on diagnosis, treatment, research and education.
G&T is providing Project Management and Employer’s Agent services on the scheme. If you’d like to find out more about our work on the project, visit our project case study.
