Everton Stadium gets the green light
Everton Football Club's new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool has been given the green light to proceed following the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government's decision not to call-in the club's planning permission.
Liverpool City Council unanimously approved the plans in February and passed the application to the Secretary of State for consideration. This decision is a momentous result for the club, who can now proceed with working towards construction in the coming months.
G&T is providing Project Management services on the new stadium alongside RLB (cost managers) and CBRE (planning consultant) with Laing O'Rourke (contractors).
The development of the new 52,888 capacity waterfront arena is an historic occasion for the club, who had been searching for a new site for many years before selecting Bramley-Moore Dock at Liverpool's Waterfront.
Located within a World Heritage Site, the new stadium plans will incorporate many of the existing dock features, including renovation of the Grade II Listed Hydraulic Engine House, to celebrate the dock's history and bring a colourful and vibrant space for fans and visitors to enjoy.
As part of the plans, Everton's existing stadium at Goodison Park will be reimagined to create a community-led legacy development, providing a range of community facilities for the people of North Liverpool. This could include housing, health centres, a youth enterprise zone, green space and office space to encourage local start-ups and young entrepreneurs.
Together, a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock and a legacy project at Goodison Park is expected to deliver a £1.3bn boost to the local economy, create 15,000 jobs, attract new visitors and deliver an additional £237m of societal value.
