During lockdown in 2020 when the popular Marie Curie Glasgow Brain Game event like so many others was cancelled, in his capacity as chair of the fundraising committee, G&T partner David Logue spearheaded an online auction which aimed to help Marie Curie recoup some of the lost income from the cancelled Glasgow Brain Game for that year. As a result of David’s efforts during this period, he has been nominated as ‘Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year’ at the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s Scottish Fundraising Conference.

"David has been at the heart of the recent success of our Glasgow Brain Game event. He took on the role of chair of the event committee in 2019 and was instrumental in steering us through the pandemic in 2020."

Marie Curie Special Events Manager

David leads our project management team in Glasgow and volunteering has been a big part of his professional and personal life for over four decades. He qualified as a Children’s Panel member in 2010 and regularly chairs hearings - listening and making legal decisions for vulnerable infants, children and young people across Glasgow.

David’s most recent volunteering role as chair of the Marie Curie Glasgow Brain Game Fundraising Committee began in 2019, following the loss of his brother to cancer two years earlier. The Brain Game generates vital funds for the charity in a number of locations across the UK by hosting annual fundraising events and has been supported by G&T since it began in 2006.

Marie Curie Special Events Manager, Catherine Maclean, who works closely with David in her role, said: “I am thrilled to hear that David has been shortlisted at the 2022 Scottish Fundraising Awards as Volunteer of the Year. David has been at the heart of the recent success of our Glasgow Brain Game event. He took on the role of chair of the event committee in 2019 and was instrumental in steering us through the pandemic in 2020. We are incredibly thankful to David for supporting Marie Curie both professionally and personally. In our eyes David is already a winner – but we wish him well on the night and hope he is presented with the award of Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year!”

David also sits on the Wasps (Workshop & Artists Studio Provision Scotland Ltd) Board where he is chair of the Estates and Property Committee. Wasps is a registered charity that provide affordable studios to support artists, makers and creative industries.

The Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s Scottish Fundraising Conference takes place on Thursday 9th June at the Doubletree by Hilton Glasgow Central.
