Work to begin on new Heald Green hospice
Works will now start on site for St Ann’s Hospice following the acquisition of the land adjacent to the current hospice for its new building. This is the latest milestone in its ambitious project to build a new purpose-built hospice to replace the current Victorian building.
G&T has been involved with the project since its inception providing Cost Management services alongside Caddick Construction (main contractor), Genr8 Developments (project manager), architects PRP, TRP (structural engineers) and TACE (M&E consultants).
The new building will house a 27-bed inpatient unit including individual en-suite rooms and access to private outdoor terraces. The development will also feature modern outpatient and day therapy services, dedicated bereavement and family support spaces, all surrounded by beautiful, landscaped gardens.
Enabling works are scheduled to start in January followed by a 15-month programme to build the new hospice. Once the new facility is complete, the existing site will be demolished and a new high end housing scheme will be built.
Head of Fundraising and Capital Campaign, Anne-Marie Wynne, said: “We are so excited for the construction and building work to start on the new land, it has been a long time coming! It’s brilliant to see so many people coming together after months of planning and preparing, we can’t wait to see the new build come to life.”
