General
Can I apply for an Early Experience position outside of your standard recruitment cycle?
Yes, if you are looking for a position and cannot see the vacancy listed then please do register your interest via the link below so you can join G&T future talent pool list. We will notify you when the vacancy becomes available:
Can I reapply if I’m not successful?
Yes absolutely. We welcome applicants to reapply the following year if they are unsuccessful.
Can you make suitable arrangements for me if I need help attending the interview due to a disability?
Yes, we are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible for all. Please let us know in advance if you require any special arrangements and we will do our best to accommodate this to ensure you have the best chance of success.
Do you accept international applicants? If so, do you provide sponsorship for work permits or visas?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept international applicants for any of our Early Experience opportunities. You will need to have the right to work in the UK.
Where will I be based?
We have offices in London, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. However, the availability of positions each year is dependent upon business needs. Most positions are for our London office. You will be required to state your location preference on your application.
Will I get the opportunity to work in one of your US offices?
No. Anyone joining us as an Early Experience candidate will not be able to work in the US during the period of training. However, this is something that may be possible further on in your career once you are qualified.
What salary do you offer?
We review our salaries annually to ensure they remain competitive in the market. We will confirm this with you during the latter stages of the selection process.
Graduates
What pathways do you offer for the Graduate Programme?
Our main pathways are Cost Management, Project Management and Infrastructure. We offer opportunities across a range of sectors and services within these pathways.

What are the academic requirements?
You will need to have achieved, or be working towards, a 2:1 or above in your degree. If you haven’t achieved this grade but feel you still have something to offer, please submit your application and tell us why.
Do I have to come from a construction-related degree?
No, we welcome and encourage applicants from all degree disciplines to apply to our programme. It adds to the diversity of thought and skills which is something we wish to encourage. We will provide you with an excellent training programme when you join. However we will need you to demonstrate a clear interest in G&T, Project Management or Cost Management and the construction industry in general.
If you come from a non-traditional background, or your degree was not RICS accredited, then you will complete a RICS accredited Masters course alongside your structured APC training.
If my application is successful, when would I start?
We ask our graduates to all join us no later than the start of September. Although, depending on team requirements you may be able to start earlier in the year.
Apprentice
What apprenticeships do you offer?
We offer Level 3 and Level 6 apprenticeships:
- Level 3: Surveying Technician Apprenticeship NVQ
- Level 6: BSc Quantity Surveying & MRICS
- Level 6: BSc Construction Management & MRICS
- Level 6: MSc Quantity Surveying & MRICS
- Level 6: MSc Construction Management & MRICS
What are the academic requirements?
- For a Level 3 apprenticeship, you will need to have achieved a minimum of a C/Grade 4 in Maths and English at GCSE.
- For a Level 6 apprenticeship, will need to have achieved a minimum of a C/Grade 4 in Maths and English at GCSE and BBB in A'Levels/or equivalent.

How long will it take me to complete the Apprenticeship and become fully Chartered?
- For our Level 3s, it will take approximately 6-6.5 years.
- For our Level 6s, it will take approximately 4-4.5 years.
- Those studying for a Masters it will be approximately 2.5-3 years.
What do you look for in Apprentices?
We look for candidates who have a passion for the industry and who can display a good level of English and Mathematical ability. You will also need to be able to express yourself clearly, both orally and in writing, and must understand the commitment of the apprenticeship and have a desire to succeed.
If my application is successful, when would I start?
Our apprentices join us at the start of September, although depending on team requirements you may be able to start earlier if you wish.
Industrial Placement
What are the academic requirements?
There are no formal academic requirements but you should be working towards a 2:1 or higher in your degree. You should be on a relevant construction course with a requirement to undertake an industrial placement in their third year of University. Students from unrelated courses can also apply but must show a demonstrated desire to work in the industry through previous work experience.
Could I be offered a permanent role once I graduate?
If you get outstanding feedback at the end of your placement, G&T will sponsor you throughout your final year of studies and offer you a graduate role, within the same team, once you have graduated and achieved the required grades.
How long are the placements?
We can accommodate placements from 6–11 months long.
Summer Placement
What selection criteria are usually applied?
Students on a relevant construction course or that can show a demonstrated desire to work in the industry through previous work experience.
When do summer placements take place?
We can accommodate placements between May and September. They usually last around 1-3 months.
Work Experience

How can I apply for a placement?
You can apply via our website in January. You will need to upload a CV and a short statement detailing why you’d like to be offered a placement, including what you feel you can bring to the firm and what you’re hoping to gain from the experience.
Is there an age limit for work experience?
You must be at least 14 years old and there is no upper age limit.
When can work experience placements take place?
Our structured placements will run across the whole month of August. Those who are unable to commit to this period will have the opportunity to note their availability on application where we will try our best to try accommodate where possible.
