Bury Market
The project comprises a single, transformational scheme at the heart of Bury Town Centre. It will deliver essential improvements to Bury's Outdoor Market as part of a vision-led regeneration initiative that will also deliver a new flexible venue enhancing the cultural, leisure and community offer.
The scheme will be set within high-quality public realm to promote enhanced integration with established assets. Bury is famous for its market which was voted Britain's favourite market in 2019. It plays a vital role for local customers and traders, while also drawing visitors from afar. The works include the installation of a new roof, reconfiguration of existing spaces to create a higher quality environment, access and servicing improvements to aid circulation and measures to support decarbonisation.
The Flexi Hall element will provide a high quality, flexible facility at a key gateway to enhance cultural, leisure and hospitality offer. The facilities will support a range of business and community organisations and will be actively managed as part of a coordinated town centre offer including food and drink, live performances, arts, conferences and pop-up events including artisan markets.
The multimillion-pound scheme is a key part of wider plans to transform the town centre, which include a new transport interchange and the redevelopment of the Mill Gate complex.
