Grimsby River Terminal

The £26m Grimsby River Terminal is the first construction to be built outside of the lock gates since Royal Lock opened in 1852 and provides access for two vessels carrying up to 3,000 vehicles, significantly increasing the port's capacity and making it attractive to more carriers. It also offers a direct link into the port's extensive car storage facilities.

The complexities of the project involved off site construction of the pontoon and linkbridge in exotic locations ranging from China to Newcastle and use of a bespoke pontoon restrain system to deal with the particular wave conditions in the Humber, which involved a series of individual dolphins supporting 35m long boom and bearing assemblies.
