Inverness Castle
Inverness Castle is being restored and transformed into a world-class visitor attraction and cultural centrepiece for the Scottish Highlands.
Sensitive conservation works to the Category A Listed building will improve the internal and external building fabric. Alterations will restore the internal plan providing fewer and larger spaces, along with improving accessibility and upgrading the building’s environmental performance.
A new single storey infill building is being created in the courtyard between the North and South Towers to provide additional café and function spaces and a redundant two-storey toilet block adjacent to the castle is being partially demolished and rebuilt to create a renewable energy centre to house air-source heat pumps that will heat the new visitor attraction.
External improvements include significant hard and soft landscaping works to enhance space around the building for visitors.
