Midmills
Inverness Creative Academy is the Highlands' first major creative hub for Wasps (Workshop & Artists Studio Provision Scotland Ltd). The Category B Listed Midmills Buildings have been restored and transformed across two separate work phases to provide affordable studio space.
Phase 1 works were completed in November 2018, creating 30 studio spaces for artists and makers within the 1913 Arts and Science extension of the former Inverness Royal Academy building.
Phase 2 works - restoring and converting the original 1895 Academy building - were completed in February 2022 and provide workshop areas, meeting rooms/offices for businesses working in the creative industries. The grand assembly hall has been transformed into a high quality café and gallery space accessible to the general public for the first time.
Wasps is a charity that provides affordable studio space to support the careers of artists working in Scotland. Inverness Creative Academy allows people to share their creative skills and ideas whilst promoting collaboration and innovation.
