Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital
This new hospital concept, the UK's first Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, will deal purely with emergencies and life-saving procedures, with most patients expected to arrive by a 'blue light' vehicle.
The new £70m facility opened its doors in June 2015 is part of the Trust's £200m investment programme to improve healthcare in Northumberland and North Tyneside over the next 10 years. The new build 29,000m² hospital includes emergency care, a fracture clinic, an operating department, endoscopy unit, critical care wards, paediatric unit, maternity unit with theatre and special care baby unit, scanning department (including x-ray, ultrasound, MRI and CT), pathology, mortuary and all associated non-medical support accommodation including offices, FM areas, kitchen, restaurant and retail units.
The project was developed in BIM, leading the way in healthcare planning and design on this large, complex and innovative project. We provided full design team services and strategic project co-ordination.
