St Margaret's Community Diagnostic Centre
A new Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) is set to transform local healthcare access by 2025. The project involves refurbishing an existing bungalow, constructing a new facility and upgrading site power availability.
The CDC will house a modern imaging department offering extended x-ray services, two CT scanners, an MRI scanner, and facilities for ultrasound, cardiology, respiratory care and phlebotomy.
As one of approximately 30 CDCs across the UK, this initiative aims to shift diagnostics from acute hospitals to community sites. The design enhances accessibility, enabling earlier diagnosis and reducing hospital pressures. This development reflects a broader NHS commitment to innovative, patient-centred care within local communities.
