London Power Tunnels Royal Opening
The London Power Tunnels, Phase 1 officially opened on Wednesday 7th February. The project is part of a seven year rewire needed to meet increasing electricity demand across the UK’s capital.
National Grid’s £1bn project is creating a new energy superhighway under the city running from Hackney in the east, to Willesden in the West and Kensal Green down to Wimbledon.

G&T Partners, Brian Livingston and John Michaelides, attended the event alongside The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall who officially opened the project.
The flagship London Power Tunnels project involves the rewire of 200km electric cables through 32km of tunnels dug deep under London.
G&T has provided Commercial and Cost Management services on this landmark project since 2007, working closely with National Grid to ensure the scheme was delivered on time and under budget.
