Growing RICS Membership in the United States
In 2018 Gardiner & Theobald partnered with the RICS to begin the Associate RICS training route, to create locally grown quantity surveying professionals and enabling Associate RICS members to proceed with their APC, without having an accredited degree.
The RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is a world-leading professional body promoting and enforcing standards in the built environment. With its 125,000 members across the globe, it is a well-recognized organization, creating opportunities for its members internationally.
Although the RICS was established in 1868, it is relatively new to the United States with memberships growing yearly. Currently there is no specific Quantity Surveying degree within the Tri-State area, and without a registered degree, it has been extremely difficult for local talent to progress to their APC (Assessment of Professional Competency) and become a full Member of the RICS (MRICS).
With Gardiner & Theobald leading the charge, we have established a route for local candidates to complete the Associate RICS route (including an RICS online training course), which, once passed, allows them to progress to their APC. Candidates can work and learn, enhancing their career in Quantity Surveying, whilst growing the industry. Gardiner & Theobald is best placed in the United States with one of the largest number of RICS Members, who give back in the form of being Supervisors and Counsellors.
With our first batch of candidates commencing their Associate RICS route in Q1 2019, we are pleased to announce those candidates have submitted and passed their assessment to become Associate RICS members. Congratulations goes to Ali Simms, Jake Kmiotek, Maddi Holder, and Emmeline George.
Special thanks also goes to the Supervisors and Counsellors who have given their time to ensure the success of the candidates: Shaun Blackburn, Adam Rodgers, Amanda Burns, Stuart Christmas, Darragh Dobbin, Justin Skeels, Richard Parsley, Paul Francis and David Murphy.
