Today marks the grand opening of the new Clayton Hotel Bristol City in the centre of Bristol. Located in the old city at the walls of St. Johns, the hotel’s location makes it an ideal base for business and leisure.
The development of Clayton Hotel Bristol City has been led by Artisan Real Estate Investors, in partnership with Dalata Hotel Group, ABRDN and McAleer & Rushe Construction. G&T has provided Project Management and Cost Management services on the Everards Printworks project since its inception, working closely with Artisan Real Estate UK and Dalata Hotel Group.

The existing 1970s commercial buildings on the site are the core of the Everards Printworks redevelopment and now form the hotel (as well as residential and commercial premises), ensuring greater sustainability through the re-use of the existing buildings. The development is designed for future connection to the Bristol Heat Network and incorporates renewable technologies, including photo-voltaics and air source heat pumps.
A key consideration of this project was to bring activity and public use to a previously neglected part of the city. Building on Bristol’s legacy of street art, renowned graffiti artist Inkie has developed a number of original artworks to enrich the new public realm taking inspiration from the original Art Nouveau façade.
A spokesman for Artisan Real Estate said: "The Old City has some of the most notable historic assets in Bristol, yet they sit alongside vacant and dilapidated properties, many of which have been out of use for some time.
“The need to bring new life to this part of the city has long been recognised and moves such as the pedestrianisation of Corn Street, Clare Street and now St Stephen’s Street and St Nicholas Street, have begun to change the way in which people live and work here.

Clayton Hotel Bristol City is a 4 star, modern contemporary hotel, incorporating the former 1970s buildings of Natwest Court and Grade ll Listed historic façades on Broad Street. The Listed façades include the Edward Everard’s Art Nouveau façade, creating the ornamental entrance into the hotel.
Edward Everard was a passionate printer and a founder member of the Bristol Master Printers' and Allied Trades' Association. Everard commissioned Everard’s Printing Works, which was built in 1900 and included the British Art Nouveau style façade, designed by W.J. Neatby (who went on to design the tiles in Harrods food hall).
The project was awarded as two separate contracts (residential and hotel/commercial) and G&T successfully led the project team comprising architects Alec French Architects/Allan Murray Architects, engineers Hydrock Engineering/Quattro Consult/Caldwell and contractors McAleer and Rushe.
