Drum Property Group has submitted planning permission for a 27-storey apartment development in Leeds.

The plans propose to demolish former office buildings to make way for two brick-façade structures configured in an L shape, dubbed Whitehall Sidings. They will be located adjacent to the Springwell Gardens residential development, a 30-storey glass tower which has been granted planning permission but has not yet begun construction.

G&T is providing Cost Management services on the development which has been designed by Leeds-based architects Enjoy Design. The 391-apartment build-to-rent complex will be Drum’s first major residential scheme in Leeds and the submission of planning permission represents a key milestone for the project.

"The project represents a significant opportunity to continue to contribute to the growth and innovation of the city.”

Graeme Bone, Group Managing Director of Drum said: “Whitehall Sidings has the potential to repurpose an urban brownfield site and deliver a diverse mix of homes, complemented with extensive indoor and outdoor amenity. The new community at Whitehall Sidings will expand the emerging residential neighbourhood along Springwell Road, whilst helping provide much-needed residential accommodation within Holbeck. We are looking forward to fulfilling the development vision we had for the site when purchased last year, and subject to planning consents, would hope to be on site in early 2025.”

Robert McNeish, G&T partner, added: “We are delighted to bring our expertise as cost managers to this exciting new development in Leeds. The project represents a significant opportunity to continue to contribute to the growth and innovation of the city.”
